I installed some *.sis or *.jar applications but I cannot see them shown in Applications, moreover I cannot find them anywhere on C or E phone drive. if I try to install again it tells me that they are already installed, asking me to overwrite. So, where should the shortcuts placed other that Applications? I searched allover the phone ....

Maybe, they are in the "Menu". Try to scroll down. Some app., game make own folder in the Menu.

They are nowhere to be found, but in Application manager at installed applications they are listed . The difference between an apllication with icon/shortcut in Applications menu and one not seen (symbian or java) id that when selected it does not propose uninstall, but it shows settings such network access, call control, positioning... , so, I can't even uninstall. No one seen such an error on i8510 ?

maybe you need more experience with symbian, because this is normal. of course, that you can uninstall any app in application manager (just hit [C] button) and every app made shortcut, but sometimes it is in another folder or so (for example: app "Profile Scheduler" made his own folder straight in menu (folder's name: Dr.Jukka))

That thing, experience, i agree with you, but i'm not that noob ... Sometimes after a reboot, I see some programs/games i installed (ex. Chessmaster) and some not... (ex: Frozen bubble...), and the only way to know they are there is to check under installed apps or to install them again, but most of the time, the shortcuts don't appear. If I install them on E: then i search with y-browser or integrated file browser I CANNOT FIND THEM!!! I'm thinking to factory reset the I8510...

Shortcuts are made only in menu and his subfolders, applacation data are saved in many folders (use rather x-plore, not y-browser) but the main are resource, sys and private. You will see content of these folders only when you hack your phone ... But if it really doesn't create shortcuts of many apps, then is problem probably in Firmware....
