What firmware for battery life? [NOOB]

Postby vukdusan » Thu Dec 30, 2010 12:26 pm

Ok, so I have i8510 and my battery last for 4-5 hours max, I have all the apps that I don't need like shozu and gypsy, and can't close them via taskman.
What would be the best firmware for battery life? Is it the one on this page: http://samsungi8510.com/downloads/ ?
Also, I found this firmware: xxib2-firmware-cleared-unnecessary-preinstalled-programs-t1670.html
but I see that some of you had some trouble with it...
I would be using apollo 6.05 that I found here on the site, on the PC with Win7. I'm from Serbia but I would like english only firmware.
Thank you very much!

i also have that cleared firmware installed....and honestly, these are the pros and cons:
Pros
1. faster scrolling
2. larger phone memory
3. symbian S60v3 is now fully supported
4. startup never lags
5. improved battery life

Cons
1. Google and Quickoffice are no longer upgradable even if you hack your phone
2. slightly more sensitive

*havent messed with the GPS so i dont know....
* never had that camera and video problem....
If you're looking for the solution to short battery life, the best thing you can do is update your FW
the running apps are responsible for the faster drain of the battery so the cleared FW version really helps...
Next thing is optimize your battery, although Li-Ion batteries can be charged half full or even 3/4 full,
it is better if you let it drain twice a month.

Another tip; currently i'm using another class A battery by HK (greenpower series).. it's quite good...
I use it while charging the original battery...in that way, you can use your phone at most two days straight..
