Update Route66

Postby warped » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:48 pm

Hey,

Has anyone been able to update the default route66 application (8.0.16776) to the latest version (8.0.18990)?

I followed the instructions on the Route66 site to the letter, but every time i run the .SIS file, it says "Unable to update".
The Route66 site specifically says that it has support for the I8510.

Anyone else had any luck with this?

Hey.

You should use the Route66 SAMSUNG site. That answer did i receive from the swedish Route66 support.

Use the file SIGNED_Mobile8_S60_3_0_v8_0_18783_PU.SIS (which can be found on the installation drive in case the Mobile 8 application was pre-installed on your device).

Hope that this is helpful.

I have had major problems with Route66 support and trying to update to latest ver...
I had purchased the Australian map only to find it shows electoral boundaries and not cities.....
I live in the city of Mill Park. It is one of many cities that are in the electoral boundary of Whittlesea ..???? why

Ive ask for my money back
Since the up grade it has totally crashed anyway

I'll say one thing for the support, it was polite (i wasnt) and it came each time i contacted them
Shame the content was total rubbish

I'm playing with the program, I've followed the link and installed the application now I'm downloading some maps for europe and uk and see how it works.

P.S. I've tried many versions of garmin in the phone but all of them consume great amount of power even if the garmin is not running(I disable the recommanded garmin stuff that most people say that are responsible for but still the battery levels are not worth having garmin in the phone), so I'll try route66 and see how it goes.
Samsung I8510 (8GB Version) - Ordered 12-12-08(received 20-12-08)
Software Version: I8510DJHI1 (Changed on 20-02-09 to I8510XXIA1)
Custom version: I8510L15FMGHI1 (I8510EURHK1)
Custom version date 01/09/2008 (07-11-2008)
Language Set: 15 (07)

These issues are now fixed in version 5.04 without having to resort to killing specific processes.

I think you are out of topic mate, the topic is about route66 and as you said in another topic.. we really need a map unlocker(activator) for route66. I'm good at searching for computer programs but I'm a noob on the mobile world, the only "keygen" for route66 that I've found was a spyware called "blank.htm" that hides under the "c:\windows\system32\" anyway thats not the point

we need some map unlocker thing or unlocked maps! anyone?..

P.S. The garmin xt application is out of question, drains battery no matter what.. maybe in the future I'll try it when version 6.00.0 comes out :P. I have worked successfully with 5.00.10, 5.00.20, 5.00.40 (if I remember well) and all 3 of them had the same battery issue. Btw I use the latest available firmware so it must be something with garmin application.

Did you disable the background service in Tools > Settings > System in version 5.00.40 ? This was the process that was killing the battery after Garmin was closed. If you haven't disabled this after you installed it won't help with your battery life.

For your maps try googling 'ipmart forums'.
