i read that you probably need to enable GPS before starting McGuider, but that it didn't work, but perhaps i tried it in the wrong way.

what do i exactly have to do to make McGuider see the build-in GPS ?

thanks in advance

This is how I got mine to work, I'm using 7.6 though so it might be different.

First of all go to GPS data in Tools and wait until you get a satellite lock. This process basically activates the internal GPS.

Keeping the GPS data open, fire up Sygic and tell it to look for internal GPS (if you're lucky, it'll spot it as soon as you load it up without having to go into options)

And that's it!

Give it a go and let me know how you get on!

Cheers

ok, i will try that.
thank you

Edit:

hey, it worked !

i just let GPS-Data get a SAT-Fix and then startet McGuider and after running the "auto-gps-detect" funktion it instantly found it and saved the settings.

thank you very much

Do you need to activate the maps?

Postby p1errotee » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:39 am

I have purchased *cough* the program and the Australian maps, but I'm not sure about one thing. Are you really required to go to a Russian website to activate the maps?

Also, is Sygic just a clone of TomTom?

yes, you have to go to a random forum in russia and post your credit card details ;)

no just kidding =) i really dont know where to active

sygic is not a tomtom clone .. it is really different and many claim it is more in the direction of nokia maps, so you can use it for pedestrian navigation and finding POIs (like restaurant etc)

Thats fair enough. At least you tried them all before saying that ;)

I would advise everyone to at least try Sygic as it's easy to set up and easy to use. Like hunhool said, try all of them and see what you like :)

On a quick side note, I've got the link for the activation site, let me fire up the PC and I'll post it.

Cheers!
