Samsung I8510 Issues

Postby NetEnforcer » Sat Jul 02, 2011 11:59 pm

Hello!

I'm an owner of a i8510 and i'm having some issues, some well documented:

- Charging. It says it's charging, but if i remove the charger after like 6h charging, it didn't charge anything. Now, it isn't even charging, it just shows an yellow hour-glass with an empty battery cell. After like 10 minutes, the screen goes off and nothing. The charger port just sucks but...hey, the phone isn't even coming on.

Where could i get a desk charger for the battery?

This is the issue that is bugging me the most, how could i fix this? Warranty has ended and i don't want to pay a load of cash just to repair it and......it coming back to the same state.

Ideas? The phone is in Portugal, i can't even see the firmware.

Cheers

Right, all of you sports must be busy or this post is just in the middle of tons of junk and spam.

But, i've come up with the partial solution:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Desktop-Battery-C ... 53dcd6c6a0

Just get that wall charger and another battery, and i'll just have to be battery-swapping, but at least i'll have it charged.

Despite the battery swapping and etc, i still have the cited issues on the phone.

Any ideas? (now that the forum is spam-free, i might get some replies).

I just love this phone but it has been a tough going.

Even with an external charger both batteries refuse to charge? Sounds like you've been trying to charge the batteries when they're close to full. Let them run down all the way, then charge in the external charger, then let them run down all the way again, then charge again, keep repeating this cycle until you see longer run times. If the batteries aren't already toasted (which they might be) you can probably re-habilitate them this way.

Nah, with the external charger, they both work fine now.

But it i try, i dunno, hoping for a miracle, to charge with the phone charger, it just does the stated. I let the batteries run down, plug in the charger and does zilch, it just stands there with an hour glass and then screen goes off.

The batteries are both fine, and i just charge when they're ran down, because the phone shuts off by itself when it runs out.

Thing is, despite the external charger working fine, it's just a bummer to be battery swapping every 2 days, i'm just risking wasting the back lid as i open it like 15 times a month to swap batteries lol.

In that case, you could try a firmware update, but sounds more likely to be a hardware issue in the phone's charging circuit. Maybe as simple as a loose wire but probably not. If it bugs you that much you could try to send it off for repair but personally I would probably just live with it. You have a working solution - just be careful swapping batteries :)
