Route 66 closes itself

Postby spunky » Tue Jan 27, 2009 12:50 pm

Having installed UK maps and been working the navigation on the phone now since last October with no problems. Route 66 seem to work fine.
Yesterday though, the first time using it for a week, I went to use Route 66 and it kept shutting down. At first I thought I was accidentally pressing a wrong button, but after a while I found out that if you open the application, it will go to last or present location, and without pressing anything it will decide to close the application after 30 seconds. It then goes back to the standby screen on the phone.

No matter what I try, it will always close down. So you dont even have a chance to change settings or go to store to update or anything.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have sent an email to route 66 and googled, but only found the problem exists on PDA with another version to work with windows.

ok so in response to my previous post, in case anyone else has this problem in the future, I backed up all my photos, videos, music etc. onto pc then updated the firmware for my phone.

I then needed to download maps again, which i did through road sync (downloadable free from route 66) and as I had a key symbol next to my UK maps on me phone it meant that I could download it again. All I had to do was sync up my phone with road sync, it would recognise my phone was missing the UK map and download it for me!! Plus there were more free voices, Lonely Planet guides, colour schemes etc etc. So well worth linking up to road sync every now and then!! :)

After numerous emails from route 66 support, who were very helpful indeed, I did manage to sort out the problem I had of Route 66 closing itself down repeatedly. So I thank Route 66 for their support!!
