If u go to Messaging>options>settings>text message you´ll have the message centres to receive and reply, check if it is OK.

Yeah i have already checked that. I called O2 and they said that number was fine. I took it to the carphonewarehouse and they said try the sim card in another phone so i have and the sim card works fine in a different phone. It just happened all of a sudden, i have had the phone nearly 2 months and then this morning it just wouldn't text. I can call or send multimedia messages but i can't send SMS for some reason. I don't understand it at all and i don't fancy sending my phone away 2 weeks waiting to see if they can repair it! Thanks anyway though, if there's any other suggestions please help =]

andrewrobinson - i have the EXACT same problem as you.
I actually did send off my phone to the Samsung Repair centre explaining the problem and they have sent it back to me within a week saying that the phone has been fixed, software upgraded. and tested.
However when I try the phone now the problem still remains!

Could this be a problem on o2's end? The gf has had the same problem since last night, not being able to send sms, but being able to call and mms, but she has a Sony Erriccson phone on o2.

I said id take a look at the settings for her, but if all the settings check out then im not sure?
Trip to the local o2 shop?

## edit ##

info taken from o2 website for referance :

I am unable to send SMS messages

Do you have at least two bars of signal on your handset? Can you use other services? Can your friends on O2 send text in the same location? If yes, then check the following:

1. Check that the phone is not sending text messages via GPRS or packet data. Some mobile phones can be set up this way in error. (Tip: Check this by going into “Message settings” then "Profiles" and make sure that SMS is being sent by GSM. For Sony Ericsson handsets you will need to select "Connectivity".)

2. Faulty Device or SIM. (Tip: Try wiping the SIM card and place it back into the mobile phone. Possible dust particles or static on the SIM can result in the SIM not working correctly. If this still does not work, try the SIM in another handset, and another SIM in your handset. If the problem follows the SIM, then the SIM may be faulty. If it follows the handset, the handset may be faulty.)

3. Call customer care.
4. Pay & Go™: 08705 678 678
5. Pay Monthly: 08702 410 202
6. Business: 0800 977 7337
7. N.B. Calls are charged at national rate. When you call, have your O2 mobile number handy, enter it when prompted and we will get you talking to the right person first time.

Message Service Centre settings

* +447802000332 for Pay Monthly, or
* +447802092035 for Pay As You Go
* NB: please check that the message centre number says +44 and not 0044

Did anyone find the information from o2 enabled you to solve the problem? It certainly sounds like an o2 issue from everyone's description.

If a lot of people are running into this, once we have a confirmed solution I'll put it on the front page of the site.

After a trip to the o2 shop today, with the offending phone / sim in question, (k770i / pay as you go sim in this case) i told the guy there the problem and that it has happend before etc etc.

He checked all the obvious things, credit, sms settings, (everything i had tried on the phone myself) and he basicly put a different sim in the phone, in his words ' to reset the phone' , then put the origional problem sim back in, and hey presto it worked.
I asked why it did it in the first place, an all i could get out of him was that 'it sometimes happens, it happend to me once'.

But anyway the gf is happy she can text again, just a pain we didnt get any real answers.

This only happen in specific numbers don't know why though, everyone that has this problem: try to put the sim card in another phone and try to send the message if it works then it's the phone. I contacted with the Samsung(UK) and told me that it's firmware problem and that there is a firmware update that I have to do through PC studio.. but I didn't find any update(maybe due to my firmware-I've never change my firmware)

P.S. There is a work-around that sometimes work with some numbers, see my post(in this forum).. it might work in some numbers

The post is here: http://samsungi8510.com/forum/post2973.html#p2973

I have problems in both Orange in the U.K. and Q-Telecom in Greece(I'm a student in the U.K.) so there isn't any problem in the providers it's the phone I can assure you.
