Hi I'm new to all this & am not very technical , but I have had a problem with my SMS since yesterday morning. I sent a sms to my friend which sent about 5 or 6 times the same message then as the day went on none of my messages will send. As soon as I try send a sms it automatically deferrs sending! My problem is I have a jaw problem & cant ring people & rely heavily on my sms to run my life & my impending wedding! Can anyone please offer any suggestions?? I've tried swopping the sims over & my sim will work in my daughters phone but when when I try txt from my phone using her sim it just deferrs! I've also checked the settings.
Thanks Mischief

I had that same problem.. and when your trying to get the sms sent, the icon top right appears, right?
Well the swapping actually worked for me, swapped with a co-worker.. turned on both phones, waited a few minutes, sent a sms from his phone with my sim. Swapped over again and I received the sms on the Innov8, and sent one back.. problem solved.

Hi I'm having problems sending sms too. Bought my phone from Carphone Warehouse it went off to repair a couple of weeks ago, got it back yesterday, managed to send a couple of texts to two different numbers and then hooked it up to my laptop to restore all my settings and data and now can't send texts again. I've checked my message service centre number, swapped phones (my sim can send sms in other phones) swapped sims (no one can send a msg) and tried replacing +44 for the 0 and also tried sending a message to everyone in my contact list but no luck, anyone got any more ideas?

So you've got problem sending or receiving or both? if you checked the sms center and tried to put +44(or 0044) and still you've got the same problem, try to send an sms to a contact you don't have in your contact list(..just throwing ideas)

P.S. When you put +44 or 0044 you obviously remove the 0 right? for example if we've got a number 07839281234 the +44 version will be +447839281234 or 00447839281234 (probably you already know that, I'm just saying)

Ok heres my final results from the various ideas suggested:

1) Updated my phone firmware via the new Samsung PC Studio to the following version:

Phone: Samsung I8510 (16GB)
Software version: I8510XXHJ3
Software version date: 07/10/2008
Custom version: I8510L08XEUHJ1
Custion version date: 01/10/2008

Result = Unable to send SMS message from phone

2) Inserted my o2 simcard into my friend's Nokia phone and was able to send a sms text successfully. Inserted my friend's TMobile simcard into my unlocked I8510 phone. Waited a while before attempting to send out sms message with the TMobile simcard still in my phone.

Result = Unable to send SMS message from phone

3) Edited a few phone numbers in my phonebook by replacing the starting "0" with "+44" and tried to send out a sms text to those numbers.

Result = Unable to send SMS message from phone

So in conclusion, none of the ideas suggested on this forum have worked. As stated in my previous post, I had even sent my phone to the Samsung Repair Centre who could still not resolve the issue. Having spoken to the Samsung call centre people, they said they have not come across this issue before (eventhough I mentioned lots of other users have reported the same problem). They told me just to upgrade my phone software and if that doesn't work then send it back to the repair centre (AGAIN!).
I am really disappointed in Samsung's customer care service, which is a shame as I really like this phone.

FYI: I emailed the Samsung website with the above details to and received back the following response from them:

Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics.

The next step would be to have a repair arranged for the phone. An
engineer needs to take a look to establish if it is a hardware or
software fault. There is nothing else we can advise you to do as it
seems you have completely tested the phone yourself. Please call our
contact centre so we can arrange a repair for you.

Just to let you know, I sent off my Samsung phone to the Samsung repairers and got it back today (they returned it within 4 days - very impressed!) and can now report that SMS messaging now works!
My phone is currently now showing the following software version:

Phone: Samsung I8510 (16GB)
Software version: I8510XXHJ3
Software version date: 07/10/2008
Custom version: I8510L08XEUHJ1
Custion version date: 01/10/2008

Not sure what they did to fix the problem exactly as they stated they re-flashed the phone with the latest software, but the software stated above was the same version as the one they flashed it with last time.

The ONLY DIFFERENCE this time is that as soon as I received the phone, I DID NOT connect it up to the Samsung Studio on my phone and restore all the original backed-up data (which I did last time). I've just simply taken the phone as it has come from the repairers and slowly manually customising my settings and re-inserting my contacts on the phone which is taking ages, but still at least the SMS text messaging works now.

Hope my whole saga has helped you guys.

It was a firmware bug, early phones full of it.........

best I have found so far is...

bp i8510zxie1
ap code i8510xxic1
ap csc i8510-h3gid1

no more sms errors, but you get iplayer, youtube, skype, no shozu..... oh and google maps wont update to the new version with latitude.

I’ve had a similar problem where I was unable to send sms to my friends from my Samsung and fortunately for me it got fixed when I took it to their customer care though they were unable to explain what the problem was!! I see that many others encountered the same problem – wonder what it could have been!!sms marketing
