FINAL INNOV8 FIRMWARE (I8510XXIJ1)

Postby Aliu » Wed Feb 24, 2010 8:35 pm

The I8510XXIJ1 firmware may likely be the last update for the INNOV8. The Samsung I8510 mobile phone

is such a strong phone that has refused to die inspite of being old and abandoned in the hospital without treatment.

With the latest I8510XXIJ1 firmware, it seems we can still INNOV8 the I8510 to a new life.

Unfortunately, this version of the firmware was releashed (officially or unofficially?)in an imcomplete state.

I have completed the missing parts of the firmware by copying and modifying some of the old firmwares we have.

MISSING FILES IN I8510XXIJ1 AND HOW TO REPLACE THEM.

1. CORE folder is missing the "I8510XXIJ1_XXX.rom" file.

Solution: Copy this file from any XX firmware, e.g UK or South africa.

Rename the file to "I8510XXIJ1_XXX.rom" and put it into the CORE folder.

2. Files and folders "nbl1" and "nbl2" are missing.

Solution: Copy these folders from UK or South Africa, etc firmware.

Just put these folders into the folder for I8510XXIJ1 firmware.

Don't edit anything here. Just copy and paste.

3. That's All. That is, if you wish to use the Czech CSC files (Czech language).

4. To have English and other European languages (instead of the Czech language), do the following as well:

a. Copy folders "rofs2", "rofs3", "rofs4" from your favourite old firmware e.g UK, or SA.

b. Rename the copied files inside each of the rofs folders to exactly the same name as the ones

in the the I8510XXIJ1 folders.

c. Now delete the original folders "rofs2", "rofs3", "rofs4" from I8510XXIJ1 firmware.

Replace them with yours (as explained in 4a and 4b above).

5. For Modem/Phone, you can use either:

a. I8510ZXIE1_XXX_AA0.phone or,

b. Phone_I8510XXIB2

6. Finally, flash your phone as usual (using Apollo).

RESULTS.

I have personally flashed my phone as described above.

There are little improvements compared to what we are used to knowing.

But the truth is that this latest firmware appears to be the best for now.

Phone response (if flashed with modem Phone_I8510XXIB2) is faster. But nothing to shout bravo! about.

GPS reception and internet connection is good. GPS reception is excellently improved (with modem I8510ZXIE).

Memory remains the same. After flashing (before installing your apps), C memory is at 46.8mb.

I have been using the firmware for 3 weeks (flashed with modem I8510ZXIE) now and I am glad I have it on my phone.

ADVICE:

Flash to the latest firmware I8510XXIJ1. Replace the CSC files with any CSC file of your choice.

If you speak Czech, leave the original CZech files (same apps as that of South Africa => CNN, Norton, Yahoo, Road Sync, etc)

Use modem/phone I8510XXIB2 or I8510ZXIE.

Any of these old firmwares can still be found at:

the-best-firmware-for-i8510-t1080.html.

If any of you have trouble editing the new firmware as described above, Just let me know.

I shall upload the completed firmware I used for my phone.

Enjoy.

I unfortunately will disappoint you :( this won't work. If you replaced that .rom file drom XXIB2, than you technically has this firmware, because that rom file is most important part od CODE.... that newer things you see is probably only difference between KBNIA3 and KBNIK1 ...
I'm waiting for that too for GOD sake ...

I8510XXIJ1 is not an official firmware. Samsung would not release an incomplete firmware. By replacing the rofs file and the rom file you get no benefit from this firmware what-so-ever, those two make up the core of the Innov8 firmware.

I8510XXIJ1 and I8510XEIK1 are official firmwares, but they were uploaded incomplete ... If I has some contacts to samsung, or somebody who can upload it, i would bombard him by requests :D

I guess that even when we get a complete firmware from Samsung, it won't be anything different from the presnt combination of the incomplete firmware.

For example, the only missing files in the original I8510XXIJ firmware are:
1. I8510XXIJ1_XXX.rom
2. nbl1 and nbl2 files
These make up less than 10% of the whole firmware. So improvements here cannot make the a noticeable difference.

You can flash with the original I8510XXIJ1 firmware and just replace only these 2 missing items.

No need to replace any rof files. But you will have Czech language. Replacing rof files is only needed to change

phone language to your desired language. Otherwise don't change the rof files.

I tried this but the performance was less than what I obtain when I used my UK or South Africa CSC files combination.

In all three, the flashing is 100% safe and working perfectly.

Just give it a trial. The difference between any of past firmwares are hardly noticeable. Some of us have flashed forward and

backward. From XXIA1 to XXIB to XXIC and back to XXIB or XXIA. Your INNOV8 always remained the same.

I would like to know if these versions are already available at Samsung service centers.
If I give my phone for a software update to a service center, is it possible to have it already there?

These firmwares are not available from Samsung for now ...maybe they are hoarding it for God knows why.

I now include links to download and flash your phones with the the latest firmware I8510XXIJ1

(please read added comments to each link to understand fully how the incomplete firmware was made complete).

My believe is that this will be the final firmware update for the INNOV8 until the phone is phased out of existence.

Most of us proud owners of the INNOV8 are already nursing the desire to replace their beloved INNOV8 with another phone.

Some had already replaced theirs. So friends, feel free to enjoy the last update via Apollo (PC Studio never worked).

you don't understand architecture of Firmware... That "10%" of firmware you are saying is actually about 85% THIS IS REALLY MOST IMPORTANT FILE which contains almost whole firmware.....

I have already installed I8510XXIJ1 with South Africa CSC (January 2010) and it works great. GPS is fast and battery life has improved tremendously. Aliu thank you for this great share.
