Plz help!!! My i8510 unusable after trying to remove an app.

Postby shameek.sharma » Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:37 am

 I was trying to remove an app (TotalRecallCallRecorder Free Version) from my i8510 using the App Manager. The unistallation seemed to hang & nothing was happening for around 5 mins.

Frustrated, i remove my phone battery to stop whatever was happening. However, now when I restart my phone, the OS has slowed down to a crawl. Nothing is happening. Even the simple unlocking of the phone, pressing 2 keys one after another, takes 30 secs to accomplish. The menu doesn't even get launched!!!

My phone has slowed down to a CRAWL guys. Someone PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ tell me how to fix this...... I tried switching the phone off & on repeatedly but it doesn't work.

Plz HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

.. you did not searched forum for similar problem:

.. yes, it happened for me one time, can't remember which app. causes that, but I did not loose any data since I use soft reset option (phone slows down until freezes, but when restared I had just enough time to type it in)

*#7870#, lock code 00000000

for me happened too, but the "reset code" doesn't react. i had to re-upload firmware to phone, everything works then. but try that code first of course, it should work ..

I realized, that innov8 has no future anymore > Nokia N900 (With portable version of Debian Linux), but I still visit sometimes this site :)

If all else fails just format the C: drive by turning phone off, then turning it back on while holding the 0+8 keys. Update your firmware after that, the newer firmwares no longer have this bad boot bug. Or at least they don't happen as often, and when they do happen, if you restart your phone normally the "crawl" won't be there.

Thanks a MILLION for all your help guys!!!! :D

The reset code did not work for me as well. I tried it twice but it didn't work. But formatting the C: Drive, by holding the 0+8 keys & then switching the device on worked & now my mobile is working once again...

I'll keep this in mind for the future as well. Unfortunately, I can't update my phone firmware, as suggested by GTR83, cos everytime i do so, my device gets locked again. I have to flash the original .bin to unlock it.

But still, I luv my new phone & would again like to thank ALL of you for having helped me!!!!!

Cheers........

Hey no problem mate. And oh, by the way--if you want to update your firmware you can try flashing it manually with Apollo. Or does not having the original locked .bin file make that impossible?

I've tried flashing it manually with Apollo, but it ends up locking the device again. Then I have to again flash it with original .bin file which I had used to unlock the device.

I just checked using Device Manager & found this:
Software Version: I8510DJIC1
Software Version Date: 05/03/2009 (March 05)
Custom Version: I8510INUIC1

This means that, somehow, I've got the firmware update already, right?
