Hi all, I managed to get it working by doing the following:

1. Download GoogleMaps.sisx, either from dotsis (or some other forums), or using your mobile phone and then transferring the file to the computer.
2. Download SISContents from http://symbiandev.cdtools.net/
3. Use SISContents to open GoogleMaps.sisx, and then extract the files somewhere. There should be 4 folders (c_private, private, resource, sys) and 1 file (Google_Maps.pkg).
4. Transfer the extracted files to your phone.
5. Using X-Plore, Modo, or Y-Browser (or any other file manager that can view all files), move the following folders (private, resource, sys) to C: (root). I did not copy Google_Maps.pkg and c_private.
6. Turn off and then turn on your phone. Google Maps should now be updated.

Hope it helps!

Note: After doing the above, I then tried to install Google Maps directly, but I'm still getting the component is built-in message. Anyone knows what file/setting to remove/change to stop having that message?

Update: I copied the contents of c_private into C:\Private as well, and it's still working fine, so only the pkg file is unused =). Glad it was of use!

Couldn't get it to work with Ybrowser.

Did you just dump the files in C or did you add each file to the appropriate folder?

You have to add each file to its appropriate folder if its allready there, and create the folder if it is not.

@SoleAngelus: how did you overwrite those files? I tried X-Plore and I can't overwrite sys,resourse,private folders, only c_private worked. I tried to overwrite single files as well but with the same result. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I didnt have to ovewrite any files

5. Using X-Plore, Modo, or Y-Browser (or any other file manager that can view all files), move the following folders (private, resource, sys) to C: (root). I did not copy Google_Maps.pkg and c_private.
6. Turn off and then turn on your phone. Google Maps should now be updated.

the files in the folders private, resource, sys, you can copy to the folders on the C: drive on your phone (do the same with subfolders)

e.g. for example if you have the new google maps files on the E: drive then you would to this :
E:\google_maps_new\private\10003a3f\import\apps\ ## FILES IN HERE ## ----copy into----> C:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\ ## FILES IN HERE ##
E:\google_maps_new\private\2000CEA3\res\ ## FILES IN HERE ## ----copy into----> C:\private\2000CEA3\res\ ## FILES IN HERE ##

And so on and so forth. If you cant find the folder on the C: dirve to copy the new file into, just create a new folder with the same name and copy it in there. (y browser)

Hope this helps clarify

P.s I was using y-browser

Thanks for such a clear explanation! The problem on my phone is that I'm not able to copy any file or create folders on private,sys,resource directories on the C: drive. y browser doesn't even show all of them. Also I'm not even able to enter sys directory. It's very strange because I was able to install themes on C: drive... Thanks in advance.
