A little help needed on directory strucure on mass memory E:

Postby sunchild » Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:33 pm

Hi all,

I accidentally deleted some folders on the mass memory (E:\) drive on my innov8, including the dictionary database files. I have a backup of the files, but don't remember the exact folder name on the mass memory module where the files were stored. Could anyone take a look at the folders on the E: mass memory, with X-plore or the built in file manager, to retrieve the folder list? I'd need only the folder name where the dictionary database files are. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sunchild!

If I've understood you right, the folder name is PowerDicSymbianV9.

I hope that helps!

Cheers :D

Hi Mustaine!

Many thanks for your reply, now I'm a bit closer to the solution... The folder name seems to be good, but when i copied back one of the dictionary dat files (Collins Cobuilt Advanced Learners English), and tried to run the dictionary app, i got a message: "Unable to run PowerDic. Memory low. Delete some data.(#06)". I made a *#7370# reset on phone memory, and the free mass memory is more than 7 GB. It's quite weird. I installed the memory patcher sis file from samsungmobile.com support, but still no luck. May I ask you to check if the dictionaries work on your phone? Maybe i did something wrong, brrr.... Thanks in advance!

I've checked it and everything seems to run ok on mine.

As you've already installed the memory patch and reset the phone, I'm afraid I don't know what else to suggest :(

Silly question but did you copy over all the .dat files?

Hi again,

yes I tried with the preinstalled files, and with another dictionary file purchased from diotek directly. I think there is some issue with the database files, they are regionally different. I live in Hungary, and a friend of mine encountered the same "low memory" problem with his intact innov8. Maybe its some firmware or memory management issue, I really have no idea about it. If you could do a favor for me: can you copy the dictionary files from your innov8 to your pc, and can you send them to me by email in a zip or rar file? I'd appreciate it very much. My email is: sumegia@gmail.com. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello,

Is there any chance of you posing the PowerDicSymbianV9 files up online? I seem to have deleted them too.
I thought they [the files] would have remained after formatting the Internal Memory but evidently not.

Many Thanks :)
