Hi all

First of all thanks to the many posters here who provided helpful hints on how to update the firmware. I was one of the few who had the phone model not recognized issue and thus used Appollo to first update to the unofficial firmware, which worked like as charm, then proceeded with the update using PC Suite. This is where I am facing a problem which I couldn't find anywhere on the web by Googling it... I tried updating twice so far and it failed once at 18% and the second time at 63%... I am getting an "error while downloading files" error. If i choose try again, it starts from 0% again...

Did anyone face this? Is it simply a connection error? Should I just keep on trying until it goes through....? I wish someone would release the files so we can just update the firmware using Apollo...

I'm not sure why anyone is bothering with these firmware updates.

1) Virtually everyone is reported at least 90mins - 2hrs to do the update.

2) Many people have reported having to do the update procedure numerous times due to it stalling

3) Some people have reported bricking their phone

4) Of the people who have navigated the above and actually done the update, NONE have found a single difference whatsoever.

In summation, no notable differences and a lot of headache and possibly brick the phone...seems like an easy decision to me.

I got this when updating to the hj4 firmware once at 23% and once at 79% tried it again last night and it completed the update properly so think its a connection error with the update server just keep trying and eventually it should go through but if ya cant be bothered doin that I think someone has posted the firmwares for use with apollo now

good luck hope you get it sorted without too much hassle

Hi

I've tried to update the FW of my i8510 and it got to 37% and stalled. It kept asking for the USB drivers through the Windows XP wizard. I tried downloading the USB drivers from the Samsung site and uninstalling them then reinstalling them but no luck and then tried using the USB drivers from the downloads section on this forum but no luck (there's no file extension on the one from this site so does it need one?). Phone works normally to send files and use the PC studio so I dunno why it can't find the usb drivers during the update process. Could someone help please?

Thanks in advance!!

1.) Unplug your USB to your phone
2.) Make sure you have installed the USB Drivers posted in Samsung Mobile
3.) Restart Update Manager
4.) Turn off your Phone
5.) Press 4 and 7 keys simultaneously while you connect the USB to your phone

Update should start by then. Had the same problem before :D
