It needs to be sorted out. I dont know who is responsible, Nokia or Samsung and I can understand why they both want to protect themselves but surely its win win for both parties if the OS is Opened up and made a truely free platform.
Nokia have purchase symbian with the intention of having all the leading manufacturers on board and maintain Symbian as the leader in the smartphone OS market. It needs to work extra hard to fight off competition from Apple, Google, Microsoft etc and it can only do that with the support of the likes of Samsung.
Samsung need to take a leaf out of Nokia's books and create a whole user experience. Its all well and good having the hardware they have on a stable and very well built OS but look at Nokia's aim to creat complete convergence. Simple things like integrating Podcasting into the music player, Betalabs software, integrated search, shareonline etc are all things that I want on my device.
I am working on trying to get the hack to work to lift some of the restrictions on the Innov8. If anyone gets there before me let me know.
