Nokia Maps 3.0 with Ovi Maps

Postby goace11 » Fri May 22, 2009 12:50 am

Does anyone know more about Nokia Maps 3.0 with Ovi Maps?
It is compatible with Symbian S60s on Nokia, and it is supposed to be better than google maps.
Please post any new info....

Nokia Maps v2.04503 works just fine on my hacked Innov8. However I also signed it so it can install on non-hacked phones. Sorry if my post is a repeat... :)

EDIT : Ovi Maps 3.01.2602 also works fine on Innov8. Tested on I8510DJIC1. Finds your location in a flash provided you already hooked yourself to a satellite first via the GPS Data app. Outdoors connecting time would be around 5 seconds. If anybody is interested on how to make it work I will make a full post about it.

Here's how I did it.

1. Install the official Nokia Maps 2.0.4503 that you can get from here:
Code: Select all
http://www.4shared.com/file/132670221/f8421bee/Nokia_Maps_20_4503_31.html

2. Install the cracked version of Nokia Maps by illusion, which you can get from here (you probably need to register):
Code: Select all
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=308041

For Ovi Maps 3.01 cracked please go here instead:
Code: Select all
http://rapidshare.com/files/252233218/Nokia.Ovi.Maps.v3.01.2602.S60v3.SymbianOS9.1.Unsig ned.Cracked.Repack.Read.NFO-CODePDA.sis

Installation of this cracked version will take longer. Maybe around 5-6 minutes. Just leave it alone and it will install successfully. :)

3. Run the Maps application and let it go online once. Don't worry it will only need to connect to wireless data for like a few seconds. Afterwards just exit the app.

4. Download maps/voices from:
Code: Select all
http://diabo.freehostia.com/symbian/indexhack.htm

5. Unzip the maps you chose and drop all its folders (named 0 to 9 and a to f) into E:\cities\diskcache or F:\cities\diskcache if you have a MicroSD.

6. Restart your mobile if you want to free up some RAM first, and run the app. Enjoy! :)

Any notable differences between the 2.0 version of Nokia maps and the 3.0 with Ovi?
Nokia 6600 - Nokia N80 - Nokia N81 8gb - Samsung I8510 8gb = Brand Loyalty ftw!

I think the interface looks cleaner, there's an ovi logo all the time (which is not important - sheesh GTR), and the maps are different. They're more detailed. Traffic still won't work on a cracked Ovi Maps 3.0.

i've installed without problems the vers.2 but if i update to the next version 3.xxx i've a problem: the installation is good but the application crash after some seconds...
did anyone know why?

last thing: if i install a map from the link above, i've to use a wireless/gprs connection to navigate or is a normal navigator like tomtom?
