ok i have the garmin folder on my phone, there is no .sis file in there, so i found a europe map update, put it in, and nothing happens because the file cannot be installed since this is only an update file, not the actual program

If you have attached your phone via mass memory to the pc,select E drive and click on install.Then you have installed Garmin folder on that drive.You need to go to folder and you find Garminemobilext.sis which is need to be installed on Drive E

i can install the 4.1 fine, it shows up in applications and everything, but from my understanding, support for the i8510 was added in 5.00.1 or 5.00.2 (i forget which one) but in order to get the update to work you have to have garmin already running on your phone....which is kind of counter intuitive since i CANT GET IT TO RUN IN THE FIRST PLACE to update it to the supported version!!!

Forget about the previous versions.
The first compatible version was 5.00.10 for Samsung I8510.It means you can install any of these versions above that version(5.00.10)
Thats why I said,delete any previous versions and install the latest one(and in the future if newer versions release all you'll need to do is just install the newer versions .sis file)
Trust me buddy
After successfully installation you'll need to unlock device(SW.UNL) and maps(GMAPSUPP.UNL) both

thats the thing, there is no .sis file in any of those updates, i downloaded all of them including the one you linked, theres nothing un there

Geez, is everyone useless? Ever heard of the pirate bay or mininova or isohunt....do a torret search, find it for yourself and read the instructions, the uploaders are very helpful with help txts on how do do it.

If you get stuck with the instructions go to forums like mobile castle or ip-mart or gps underground and find the posts on there telling you how to do it.

i have downloaded 3 different ones from demonoid.com and 2 from thepiratebay


this is the only installation im having problems with, i have actually noticed that when i install it, it seems to run because when i try to do anything it tells me "you must first close running programs, would you like to do this now" it just does not show up

ive read instructions but part way through it always says "run garmin" and thats where i get stuck because it wont run!

Download from garmins website thats the simplest one.
Follow the instruction I told and you gonna be successfull!!
Delete all garmin you installed before(you might have to do hard reset) and install clearly garmin 5.00.40

Where did you install it(what drive)?
Have you attached your phone via MASS STORAGE to the pc??

connected in mass storage, ive tried installing it on my memory card and on E drive, about....40 times
