so i finally gave my innov8 to my wife and upgraded to a nokia n8.
awesome.
skype works really well.
garmin mobile xt works great. gps is roughly twice as fast as the innov8 and has double the sensitivity. works in areas with tall buildings without losing lock at 40-50mph.
awesome processor. nearly 3 times as fast as the innov8.
touchscreen is annoying. innov8s slider is better when entering data on the go.
almost twice the battery life.
tons of easily installed apps with the ovi store directly on the phone.
16GB internal+32GB external same storage as the innov8.
usb on the go. unlike the innov8 it can directly read a usb stick.
amazing battery monitor which shows whats using power and keeps track.
annoying home screen / widget config which tends to go into editing mode. the innov8 is better.
12mpx camera as opposed to the 8mpx on the innov8.
real flash (bright!) with no LEDs
annoying red led when taking pics - need to cover it up. beep sound can be disabled with patch. can shoot twice as fast as the innov8 and save with no picture breakup.
no screwing around with firmware. works well with default fw.
wifi has around 1.5X strength of the innov8 and symsmb and other apps work fine. ships with full office suite.
charging on microusb is not as fast as the innov8. i use a $10 oem universal charger with nokia head in the car and it works well.
FM transmitter built in so it interfaces with car stereo immediately. dont need this anymore as i have a bluetooth rig and a dane elec 1GB smp3 stick but its good to have.
runs all s60v3/v5 apps. thinner and slightly larger than the innov8.

so, needless to say... ur happy with nokia n8? i, too, is pondering about getting a nokia. n8 in particular. u mentioned that skype is working great so that is good to know. how abt the other voip appz? have u tried any others? also, how's the picture and video quality and capability? better than innov8? idk how wifi hotspot works but is it capable of doing such thing also? thanks in advance for the reply.

after two months with the Nokia N8:

not tried other voip appz but skype works great.
picture quality/video -- far better than the innov8.
wifi significantly better than the innov8, works as a hotspot with joiku.

i recommend u all upgrade. make sure you get the case and the screen protector on day 1. the n8 screen becomes smudgy fast. also install the lock shortcut app (free), camera silence patch and the profile switching app (search for it) which allows profile switching by alarms. create an ovistore account and skype and all the other stuff can be downloaded. quickoffice full comes automatically with the n8 in the latest update 1.1. i installed garmin movile xt from my innov8 and it worked fine (better than the innov8 actually). traffic/google local search also works ok inside xt. you can also now play music while the gps is navigating unlike the innov8. camera shake is also gone.
