Hi all, I usually try to be pretty careful of not posting noob stuff thats has been reiterated in previous posts a hundred times but on this issue ive looked for a while and can't really find a step by step instructions on how to get North American maps working. I've looked at torrents but the problem is with them is they crack the program a different way that has been suggested here on this forum (using the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL folders) I've also downloaded the support and basemap installation files and have installed them successfully. Now the only thing left for me to do is install NAM maps to get this thing up and running but I've searched through various forums and I've seen different ways about getting the maps loaded. I didn't want to mess anything up like I've already did with other programs so I was wondering if someone could provide me with a link to the North American Maps for Garmin XT and hopefully also explain how to load them successfuly after having done the crack that is explained here on this forum ( link is there a way to get the maps loaded with being consistent with this particular crack) . I've heard something about mapsource files or Mapinstall...

This is probably really easy and I know I'm a noob for it but i couldn't find instructions on this forum just for loading the maps let alone any of the links to the maps. I would appreciate any help thanks. (Also im running Garmin XT 5.00.50)

when you find the maps you can install them on pc. that will also install mapsource(if already not installed)
now that mapsource and maps are installed just start mapsource and unlock the maps. when you first start mapsource it will start unlock wizard but skip that. click tools->menage maps or products or something like that. new window, with two tabs, should apear. there are 3 buttons in the right of both tabs. go to second tab and click "add"(should be the first). new window will apear again. small with two fields. in the first you have to enter serial code you generated in keygen. that will unlock maps for the mapid you entered in keygen.
i hope you have unlocked garmin xt for your phone. for the maps you will need unitID once more. serial code for map unlocking is different for every device. so enter unitID in first field of keygen and the mapID for NA in the second. click generate in the map area of keygen and you will get the serial for mapsource.
now that maps are unlocked go to the main mapsource window and select all the maps you want( unzoom until you see complete NA in center and select all of it). in the right should apear list of maps selected. now click transfer to device and find your phone and transfer. maybe you can choose how many details you want on your maps so be sure to select highest details since you can decrease details in garmin xt too.
there are other ways but i found this as easiest.
some of instructions you found are for garmin gps devices, not for garmin xt application.

mapID for NA should be 450

i know this may be little confusing but i wrote it based on what i remember, not with actual program in front of me but you should be fine
