Google Maps + GPS

Postby colbird12 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 11:45 pm

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone else has this problem.

On occasion when starting Google Maps the application loads ok and then I am prompted which Connection I would like to use in order for downloading map data, I choose the default "Orange Internet" it then connects, and my phone re boots without warning. After it re starts it works perfectly.

the above only happens if I have not used GPS or Google Maps for a while (days) several phone on/offs by me during that time.

However if I use a GPS application other than Google Maps it works perfectly and indeed if I then use Google Maps it works perfectly without the reboot issue, so I am thinking starting the GPS from COLD with Google Maps caused the phone to reboot, but if the GPS is warm started then there is no problem.

Anyone has similar? any comments on this would be welcome.

Cheers
CJ

I've had the same issue! I haven't tried any other application, other than Google maps and the on board GPS.

I have noticed that, sometimes, the GPS fails to connect, even in an area that has plenty of satellites. Usually it happens if I'm connected, I close Google maps using the end call button, and then re-load it again within a few minutes of closing it. I have to disable the GPS setting in Google maps, and then re-enable it for it to link to any satellites.

Hopefully Samsung will get on the ball, and release some firmware fixes (the firmware updater always tells me my phone is up to date already).
