i install Ngage on a clean phone, formatted and everything. i install some games on it. and still everything seems to be working perfect. but when i installed some themes. and i used a theme. suddenly Ngage didnt start.
what happend is when i clicked on Ngage, the circular swirl comes on. and then 6 or 8 circular dots appear. and i think its loading, but then that pops off, and im still in my extra's menu. no error message, no nothing.

so, my ngage doesnt work.
has anyone else had this problem? does anyone know how to fix it? i thought theme's or anything else wouldnt affect Ngage.

please advice!

The original problems I had with N-Gage were due to RAM issues.
How much phone memory due you have left? (i mean phone memory, not mass memory or memory card...)

My guess is that your phone has no memory resulting in a crash when it tries to start, i've seen that happen with a different application on an N96 recently.
But then you'd also have excessive slow down with general phone use so i guess that goes out the window........

I know its very unlikely, but you tried putting the original theme back and testing it? I very much doubt it would make a difference but its worth a try.

Can we get some more details?

What theme?
Where saved? (phone memory/Mass memory/Memory card)

Try rebooting the phone, using the original theme (Elegance Noir) with nothing running in the background, load N-gage.

@DarkPandOr: What amount of "phone memory left "do you recommend? I'm using I8510DJIC1 and as of now I have 38.8 MB of "space". Thanks!

I ran N-gage fine with about 30-35mb of memory left.
To be honest i doubt the phone will have any problems until you go below 2mb.

thank you for responding so soon.

when first installed the Ngage, i had no other apps and no themes, just the Ngage app. i started the app, and it loaded, and installed some games. about 5 or 6 games. and i thought, finished . so then i wanted to use some themes. i installed 4 themes, and i used one. then, i installed the helping app. handy Taskman, its an overall needed and good app i.m.o . so i installed it. the themes, i installed on the phone memory, the NGAGE games, i installed on the phones Harddisk.
and the task manager installs itself somewhere.

after installed the taskmanager, i was thinking, yes, now lets try out some games. and i tried to start Ngage, and then the effect came.
ill say it here once again.

i click on the icon Ngage, the circular swirl pops on, telling me its loading. then it suddenly swaps pages (from right to left, like your going from home to menu)
when it swaps. it ends back in the Extra's menu, actually i never left it :p. and 7 circular dots appear, int he top right hand corner of the icon (on the same place the swirl was, when it was loading) then the 8 dots dissapear. and nothing happend. n gage did not start and it didnt give an error.


i think its the Ram, but then again, it couldnt be, cause i wasnt doing anything. and i kinda knew Ngage sucks up alot of Ram. so it was clean when i booted it.
i swapped themes back to elegance noir. i tried again, did not work. i rebooted my phone, just to try out, and it did not work.
was it that handytask manager sucked to much ram and i couldnt use it? but i doubt that..
i had enough ram and since i *#7370# my phone, i had atleast 40mb of phone memory itself.


now im looking for a solution.
- could it be the themes that knocked Ngage out, so it cant work anymore? i dont think a theme will affect, and i saw Rendy's video working themes and ngage perfectly
- some friend (GTR83) said something about disabling caps on rompatcher, personally i dont know what that is, and what the effect will give, but maybe u know if it would help.
- is it because i didnt have enough RAM on my phone, so that why it couldnt boot/start Ngage? tho i was using nothing, and i restarted my phone, and then tried again. still the same effect and didnt start.
- is my version of the Ngage too old, or not updated that it might not work smooth? does anyone have a Ngage link that works perfectly, without flaw?

i have uninstalled/delete the Ngage app, i thought i'd just re-install it. and it might work again?

it didnt make a difference, its still the same. not working.

Try uninstalling the themes and everything you had after you installed N-gage, might be a confliction although i can't think what.
It sounds like the application just won't boot. Not seen that on the N-gage.

Try that out and tell me how things go.

yeah your right, it just wont boot.

now i just thought of something i ddint think of mentioning. but maybe it is the problem of all this.

with cleaning the phone *#7370#, the standard language turns to english...

but when i installed NGage, after that i swapped langauges to Dutch, my own language.
is there a possebility that, that might have done something to the system?

ill have to check that out. change languages before installing Ngage.

SOLUTION:

problem was.. the language.
once i installed Ngage after that i changed language to dutch. and then it didnt work. so it all makes sence.

cause this time. i tested it out. and i changed language to dutch from the start and AFTER that i installed NGAGE. after installation, even got a newer NGAGE from Rendy, 1.40 didnt start. i was like, god damnit this must be it. i swapped language back to english. and NGAGE fired up like a jet (:p).

so for people having troubles with languages and NGAGE. to play it just swap back to the standard english.

Hey, glad you got it worked out. Are the games on your N-gage full versions now?
