Flashing for dummies

Postby tommy8252 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 7:27 pm

If this has already been posted can someone provide a link but the i8510 is the first smartphone I have owned and although I am getting the hang of all the different things I can do with it one area I am still confused in is EXACTLY how to flash new firmware to it. I would greatly appreciate it if someone with the knowledge could post a flashing for dummies style guide for me and any others who are struggling in this area. This would be greatly appreciated look forward to all and any help recieved on this matter.

Tom.

To be honest, if your new, I'd recommend not doing it. Wait for an official downloadable one by samsung, which will have less chance of bricking your phone.

Hear, Hear.

If you are new to 'Smartphones' then I would give serious consideration into NOT doing this, you will get no help from either carphone warehouse nor samsung if anything were to go wrong.

This is supposed to be a helpful forum so if after the previous two warnings you REALLY want to go ahead with this then follow this link forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=610528 of course you will need to put the http in front, but this provides quite a bit of help and advice.

If you brick your phone doing this please let us know, as far as I'm aware you will be the first and it will be interesting to know what responce you do get from samsung and carphone warehouse.

Also sorry to anyone that may have posted this already but I couldn't really find it on these forums easily, maybe we should add important info on firmware as a sticky along with a cautionary note?
