Firmware question! Help!!

Postby PacMan » Fri Jul 03, 2009 12:15 pm

Hi, I recently got this phone and am having issues with the firmware.

When i type *#0000# it says Software version: I8510ODJHL1 (11/12/2008) and custom version I8510PAKIE1 (26/05/2009)

It also says last updated: never.

Do i have the latest firmware version? ie the one that addresses the battery issues with the phone? The battery seams very poor to be honest.

Also i'm using PC Suite 7.7 and there is no update option? I've tried to install the updater software but it says i must have version 3.2 or later?! And won't install.

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated!!

Reading in internet, i get this usefull reference about how to save battery life:

****************

I had problems with batterylife as well (god around 20 h.) - and that is bad. Narrowed it down to these issuses:

- Disable automatic updates in GPS+
- Kill the process "Screensaver" (note: not screencapture)
- Kill all processes with ShoZu in the name

After doing these things I am now in 70 hour with two bars left :-)

The tree things above was what "triggered" better battery life. Also you should do the following of cause:

- I disabled the Video sharing option.
- Turn auto pivot off.
- Wifi to when needed.
- Turn off GPS tagging in camera settings
- Ensure Bluetooth is turned off
- Set the screen backlight timeout to something sensible (I have 10 secs)
- Set the powersave settings to ON
- Ensure no email / other applications are set for timed downloads (includes GPS+)
- Kill screensaver
- Set GPRS/Packetdate to "When needed" (check top left corner of todayscreen - if you have two arrows under "3G" when not using GPRS - dataconnection is active).

And consering Garmin:
- Rename Cardrunner.dll to Cardrunner.dll.bak
- Kill the process TSRautostart after use

****************

The data of your phone is not important, because it refreshes automatically when your phone is officialy updated by samsung pc studio. Until now, that never has happened for some regions!

And about changing the firmware with APOLO:

If you have 3G, and if you DON'T want to lose it: DO NOT CHANGE YOUR FIRMWARE (because it's for another country or region than yours)

Otherwise, if your battery doesn't works with your actually firm, and "who cares about 3g", just install another one.

i hope this helps.

Greets from Chile and thanks to all... about the knowledge that i know!
