I've been trying to get satnav software on my phone, but so far no joy... I heard CoPilot works on the i8510 and think I read somewhere on here that someone got it working. But I can't get the app to install. I've tried several times, copying all the necessary files to my mem card (via a card reader) and also using the CoPilot software on the PC to install the EU maps, but the program just wont start the installation process and there are no ".SIS" installer files Has anyone got any ideas?

Hi everyone

I have installed Copilot 7 on my 1st i8510 with no problem at first and used it ok for several days but then I had to send my phone back for a replacement. The new phone arrived and I proceeded to try and install Copilot thinking it would go on with no problem but I was wrong it kept on erroring out no matter what I did on the install, I tried all sorts. Any way I thought what I had I done different before and the thing that I had done was to format the mass memory drive because I had messed around that much with the phone and the mass drive was untidy. I also remembered to backup the phones dictionary data folder on the mass memory drive becasue I ahd a feeling that would dissappear when I formatted it.
I did this again and formatted the mass memory drive and did what I did last time copying all of the relevant folders to the mass drive and hey presto the application automatically installed just like the readme files on the web link I have attached.

Please dont give in as now I know it works because I have both suceeded and failed with 2 different phones

I am on that ipmart-forum.. that's where I originally got CoPilot, but then I (cough) bought (cough) the DVD version. My problem isn't with errors, it's actually getting the installer to start. I've tried 2 mem cards with no joy There was an SIS installer file available for version 6, but I can't find one anywhere for version 7. I'll try copying the files to the mass memory built into the phone and try that.

Did the installer start straight away when you copied the files to mass memory? What PC mode did you hve your phone in when you copied the files? PC Suite or mass storage?

I've had the same experience of trying to get the installer to run - nothing seems to happen when putting in the memory card. I re-formatted it & tried again - no joy...

Anyone else had any luck with this?

I'm off to read the iPmart forum to see if I get any better luck.
