Automatic Save vs Take and Save....what's the difference?

Postby jc87 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 2:42 am

I don't know if there is some setting that I am not aware of...

But whenever I take a picture, it takes it and shows me the picture, and stays on that screen -- it doesn't go back to "camera mode" so I can snap another picture -- I gotta hit "Back" before it goes back.....Is there any way to make it stay on the taken pic for like a few seconds, then go back to being ready to take a picture automatically??

NB: I thought it was the "Automatically save" vs "Take and save" settings...but both seem to do the same thing. Another question: what is the difference between these settings?

Also, what is the "PF" mean?

...Sorry for all the questions, but I know this phone has a great camera....but it feels like I'm not getting the full benefit. (I bought the phone used, so maybe they changed the settings....what are optimal settings? - The pictures I see on this site all look great, way better than mine  )

Pretty simple really.

Take and save - when you take a picture it will leave it on the screen and it waits for you to decide it you want to save it or not. So if you save it then it will save to the phone and if you click back then it returns to camera mode and won't save the picture.

Auto save - when you take a snap it will save it straight to the phone. It might stay on the screen for like half a second while it saves it but then it goes straight back to camera mode.

I personally always use 'Auto save', that way when the day is done, or i'm finished taking pics I can just view them in the gallery and decide what ones to keep and what ones to bin. Sure some people prefer it the other way but this one suits me.

Don't know what 'PF' means, try downloading the manual from the samsung site, or it might even be on here somewhere. The main page perhaps.

Hi

to answer some of the things here

AF stands for "auto focus"
PF stands for "pan focus" - mode if you wish to be taken a photo of you by some friend for example ...

cheers ...

Even in Automatic save mode, after I take a pic it stays on the screen. I have to press "back" to go back into picture taking mode again.

Then it sounds as if you may have a problem.

Does it really bother you that much?

You could try completeing re-setting the phone, restoring it to factory settings etc. Barring that you could try updating/re-installing the phones firmware.

It all depends how much it bothers you really, is it that bad? Just having to press back after you've taken a pic?

they explanation is correct. when you choose "automatic saving" you will be thrown into the camera mode immediately. you will not even see the picture you just made for a second.

working in firmware version XXIA1

ok, heres an update:

I finally decided to hard reset my phone, and I can go into Automatic Save mode, but it takes a picture twice. Like it will take the picture when I click the button, and then pause a couple of seconds, and take the picture again....then it will go back into picture taking mode.

Is this normal? To double take a picture in Automatic Save mode?

hi hexaflare,I thank you noticed that by selecting the "automatically save" after 2 seconds the camera is ready to shoot again without pressing button in back is so much more comfortable. I use the firmwarw xxia1 nigeria. Instead the focus is pan focus to infinity is that which starts from about half a meter to infinity, it is definitely faster, but they also say the least precise, ok? excuse my English
