Ok - this phone definately CAN record high quality audio becuase the voice-recorder app, when set in HIGH quality mode will record to AAC (which is in fact good quality - it's used a lot by Apple) - however, the camcorder records in AMR - a much slower rate and lower bits/sample - and of course there's the sync issue between video and audio.

I would guess the guys at Samsung couldn't get the video working properly with AAC becuase even the lower data rate for AMR is clearly causing sync issues so if it were to be increased by using AAC there would be an even worse sync problem... But surely the hardware can't be much different from the N95 - that is - audio codec chip and video codec chip - i can't find a schematic - if someone knows where, let me know. - and as such, we shuold be able to get decent video and audio recording and IN sync.

If anyone knows the exact hardware spec - ie, what the audio chip is that'd be great.
