GSMhelpdesk have had a hands-on preview of the Samsung i8510 Innov8 at IFA in Berlin today (29/08/08). Judging from there comments they seem to be quite impressed and commented that the photo quality from the 8mp camera was “fine”.
“An expanded smartphone such as the INNOV8 of course has countless quick keys. At the left side we find some handy keys that can be used for several purposes. When we go from top to bottom we first come across two keys that can be used to adjust the volume, but also to zoom in and out on photos. A little lower a 3.5 millimeter headset jack can be found and this enables you to use your own headsets. Last but not least, the port for the headset, charger and datacable is placed, of course neatly covered by a panel as we are used to with Samsung.”

Crave’s hands on with the Samsung i8510 Innov8, lucky for some. Crave have a preview version of the Samsung i8510 Innov8 on loan from Samsung. There first look and hands on with the device.
The Innov8’s controls are spacious and well designed. A square toggle and central OK button are flanked by shortcut keys, shortcut controls, and the Talk and End/Power buttons. We thumbed through the menus for a few moments and didn’t see any potential issues. What’s more, the user interface with the pop-up menus was intuitive and straightforward. We took great interest in the Innov8’s promised “optical mouse.” We didn’t know quite what to expect from it, but the concept is simple in reality; on the screen is a small cursor that you control by sliding your finger over the square OK control. Well, we are really impressed by the package offered by the Samsung i8510 INNOV8. At first look the INNOV8 excels in almost every aspect combining strong multimedia performance, wide range of connectivity options and a nice set of location services. Last but not least it boasts a superior 8 megapixel camera that finally seems to be closing the gap between cellphones and dedicated digital cameras at least as far as image quality is concerned.
